Eczema therapy – natural ways

Eczema is a skin condition treatable by natural ways in mild cases. More severe cases will need medical attention.

In mild cases, skin becomes red and itchy. If left untreated, itching leads to bleeding and subsequent infection.

Eczema may be due to hereditary causes or allergic reaction to environmental factors. It is the reaction of our body to irritants.

Types of Eczema:

Atopic dermatitis – Mostly a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

Contact eczema – Contact with allergens in our environment causes skin to be itchy and it occurs in

Varicose – Mostly common in women. If you have varicose veins or overweight or cellulitis, it increases the chances of getting varicose eczema.

Pompholyx – It occurs mostly in hands and feet. It is most common before 40 years of age.

Natural cure for eczema:

Whatever may be the type of eczema, following natural remedies are very effective in initial stages or mild cases. However, in advanced cases, this can be tried after consultation with your doctor.

  1. Avoid irritants – Try finding out what is the cause of eczema and avoid it.
  2. Massage with butter or sesame oil – Apply and massage with butter or sesame oil. Wait for one hour and take bath. While taking bath, don’t use soap. Even natural soaps dries up skin.
  3. Use turmeric + chickpeas flour – Use turmeric + chickpeas flour for washing or bathing, instead of soap. This helps in curing eczema, especially when eczema is caused by dry skin.
  4. Massage affected areas with Aloe vera to get quick relief from eczema and dry skin. Aloe vera nourishes and softens the skin.
  5. Apply olive oil + tea tree oil – You can use a combination of olive oil and tea tree oil, to soften dry skin and reduce eczema.
  6. Eat fish oil РHigh doses of omega 3 fatty acids helps in curing eczema.  Overall skin health improves with omega 3 fatty acids. Fatty fishes like salmon, tuna and sardines are rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids. Vegetarians can eat nuts, flax seeds, chia seeds and olive oil, to get the same effect.
